Lead Story: Ten Commitments Hit the SEC Board, Two of Them Five-Stars
The SEC's recruiting board lit up over the last 12 hours, and the two loudest pledges came from the league's most familiar rivals-in-recruiting. Tennessee secured five-star TK Keys, while Alabama answered with five-star EJ Crowell. Two blue-chip commitments landing in the same news cycle is rare in early August, when most staffs are turning their attention to preseason camp rather than closing on the top of the board.
Tennessee did not stop at Keys. The Volunteers also added four-star JJ Finch, giving Knoxville a two-for-two evening and the only multi-commitment haul in the league that includes a five-star. Georgia matched the volume with four-stars PJ Dean and AJ Lonon Jr., and Texas A&M did the same with Vic Singleton and Sam Roseborough — the Aggies' pair arriving on the same day the school celebrated 18 student-athletes crossing the stage at summer commencement.
The rest of the league got in on it as well. Arkansas landed four-star TJ Hodges, LSU picked up four-star Dez Ellis, and South Carolina added three-star KJ Johnson. Seven SEC programs came away with at least one commitment. For a Thursday in August, that is a full weekend's worth of movement compressed into half a day.

Portal Watch
Three transfer commitments came in across the league, and all three went to SEC destinations.
Ja'Quavion Smith committed to Arkansas, giving the Razorbacks an addition on the same day they landed four-star TJ Hodges on the high school side — a two-pronged day of roster building in Fayetteville. Mike Diatta committed to Vanderbilt, continuing the Commodores' pattern of using the portal to fill specific needs rather than churn the roster wholesale. And Laurence Seymore III committed to Texas, adding to a Longhorns roster that has been among the league's most aggressive in the portal since joining the SEC.
No positions were listed on any of the three commitments at the time of publication.

Nine of the ten commitments carry four-star or better ratings. Tennessee and Alabama are the only two programs to land a five-star in this window, and Tennessee is the only school to sign off on two prospects that includes one.
Games to Watch
There are no games on the SEC schedule today. The immediate calendar belongs to preseason camp — Mississippi State has already held its first practice, and the rest of the league's fall reporting dates are the story to track over the coming days.
On the Olympic sports side, the first firm date on the board is Aug. 31, when Vanderbilt men's golf opens the 2026-27 season at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate. Elsewhere in golf, LSU's Denton and Knaub both won their opening matches at the U.S. Women's Amateur, per the school, and three Tigers golfers earned GCAA All-America Scholar honors. Reau also turned in a dominant showing at the Golfweek Hoosier Amateur.
