A preliminary injunction granting four-year college players a fifth season of eligibility has thrown open a late-summer recruiting window, and Mark Mitchell sits squarely at the center of it. According to Rock M Nation, Mitchell intends to enter the transfer portal, though additional legal steps are still required before he can officially move — and his situation is further complicated by having signed a professional deal to play in the NBA Summer League.
The on-court case is obvious. Mitchell averaged 18.3 points per game during the 2025-26 season and torched Kentucky for 32 points and 7 rebounds in the SEC Tournament, a 78-72 Wildcats win. Kentucky is reported to be heavily involved, with three open roster spots alongside returners Zoom Diallo, Milan Momcilovic, Malachi Moreno, and Alex Wilkins. The Wildcats have also been linked to former Michigan State big Jaxon Kohler, while talks with well-traveled wing Keyshawn Hall have ended.
Don't count out Missouri, either. The Tigers don't currently have an open roster spot and were reportedly tapped out financially at the end of the portal cycle, but Rock M Nation suggests a player of Mitchell's caliber could shake loose both.
