Bubba Frazier

Physical Profile

Compact, low-center-of-gravity build that is frame-limited by 247Sports' own evaluation; he has added about 10 pounds since commitment (175 to 185) and there is not a lot of room left on a 5-10 frame. The trade-off is elite verified speed: a 10.54 100m and 21.74 200m are legitimate Power 4 sprinter times, and he won a camp 'fastest man' competition in poor conditions. Gabe Brooks noted he can be a bit tight through the hips and core, so he wins with linear acceleration and gear changes more than with fluid bend at the top of routes. The size and speed profile is a classic slot and return specialist, not a boundary X receiver.

Play Style

A touch-driven slot weapon. Benedictine moved him around: bubble and tunnel screens, jet motion, direct handoffs, and shot plays off play action, with 105 receiving yards and two scores against Warner Robins as the cleanest example of him winning down the field. He is twitchy with the ball, hard to square up in space, and turns short throws into chunk plays. His separation comes from burst and a quick second gear rather than deception or size, and he is at his best when the scheme gets him the ball on the move or isolates him vertically against a slower nickel.

Strengths

• Explosive linear acceleration with above-average speed-changing nuance, per 247Sports; he stacks corners vertically and separates late on deep balls
• Run-after-catch and manufactured-touch value: screens, jet sweeps, and backfield carries produced 1,163 rushing yards and 14 rushing TDs over three seasons alongside 141 catches for 2,137 yards and 19 TDs
• Three-year production and toughness: 665 receiving, 284 rushing, 298 return yards and 16 TDs as a senior while carrying an offense to the 4A state championship game (39-42 loss to Creekside)
• Special teams readiness: two-phase return experience and a real chance at Notre Dame's kick return job as a true freshman after Jadarian Price's departure

Areas to Improve

• Route-snapping consistency at the top of the stem; hip and core tightness means he needs to sharpen breaks so he is not relying purely on speed to uncover
• Play strength versus press and physical nickels; at 185 pounds on a maxed frame he will need functional strength to release cleanly and finish contested catches
• Refining the full slot route tree and pre-snap coverage reads in a pro-style passing game after a high school role built heavily on touches near the line of scrimmage

College Projection

Immediate rotational slot and return man. He impressed in spring practice, drew strong reviews with the top two units in August camp, and is WR3 on the depth chart for the 2026 opener, so meaningful true-freshman snaps and return reps are realistic. Projection is a multi-year contributor who becomes a full-time starting slot by year two or three, with a ceiling as a high-volume YAC and gadget receiver in Notre Dame's offense. He is not a candidate to move outside.

NFL Outlook

Legitimate but narrow NFL path. His sprint times will test well and the return skill gives him a special-teams ticket, but the frame-limited 5-10, 185 build and current route-running polish put him in the Day 3 slot/returner bucket unless he becomes a genuinely elite separator. If the route breaks tighten and he handles Power 4 nickels physically, a mid-round grade as a receiver-returner is attainable by his third or fourth season.

Best Fit

He chose well. Notre Dame's offense under Marcus Freeman values manufactured touches, motion, and speed in the slot, which is exactly his profile, and the immediate opening at kick returner gives him a role before the route tree matures. Generally, any Power 4 spread or pro-spread scheme that schemes touches for its slot (screens, jet sweeps, motion-based mismatches) and protects him from heavy press maximizes his value. A vertical-boundary or big-slot system would waste him.
