Physical Profile

At roughly 6'1" and 170-175 pounds, Carter has prototypical outside-receiver length with the lean, high-cut frame of a true field-stretcher. His build is currently on the slender side and will need 15-20 pounds of functional mass to hold up against press coverage and contested-catch traffic at the college level, but his frame projects to carry that weight without sacrificing the long-strider speed that makes him a vertical problem. Loose hips and easy acceleration let his straight-line speed translate cleanly to the deep-ball role evaluators have tagged him for.

Play Style

Carter wins as a smooth vertical threat who stresses the top of the defense and is at his best attacking grass behind the secondary on go, post, and seam concepts. On film he manipulates leverage with patient stems and sharp breaks, uncovers down the field, and high-points the football with strong hands and concentration in traffic. He is more of a finesse separator and ball-tracker than a physical possession receiver at this stage, projecting as a defense-tilting deep-ball weapon who forces safeties to play deep.

• Advanced route technician for his class — attacks defensive-back leverage and sets up corners with shifty, deliberate cuts rather than relying purely on athleticism, a trait that shows up against off and bail coverage
• Elite vertical and intermediate ball skills — flashes rare concentration and body control at the catch point, tracking the deep ball and making difficult grabs over the middle on post and dig routes (16.3 yards-per-catch as a junior on 41-670-5)
• Plus length and catch radius for the boundary, plus a competitive legacy pedigree and proven production on a deep playoff run (Douglas County reached the GA AAAAAA semifinals at 11-3)

• Functional strength and play weight — at ~170 lbs he must add mass to defeat physical press corners at the line and finish through contact in contested situations
• Route-tree expansion and underneath/YAC game — profile is currently weighted toward the vertical/deep-ball specialist role; rounding out short-area separation and after-catch creation would unlock a true every-down volume target

College Projection

A high-floor Power Four signee who should compete for the two-deep early. Expect a rotational vertical/sub-package role as a true freshman while he develops his frame, with a realistic path to a full-time outside starter by Year 2 and a top-target ceiling by his redshirt-sophomore/junior year as the strength and route tree mature.

NFL Outlook

Possesses a draftable trajectory given the size-speed-ball-skills combination NFL teams covet on the boundary. If the play strength and route diversity develop as projected, he profiles as a Day 2-3 vertical 'X' with mid-round upside; the swing factors are how much mass he adds and whether he proves he can beat NFL-caliber press.

A vertical, pro-style or spread offense that features outside isolation routes and pushes the ball downfield, where a receiver-friendly QB can take advantage of his deep tracking and catch radius. He maximizes in a scheme that lets him play the boundary X with one-on-one looks rather than a heavy underneath/quick-game system.
