GAINESVILLE, Fla. (05/22/2026) — The Texas Tech Red Raiders bludgeoned five home runs and rallied from an early deficit to dismantle the Florida Gators 16-7 on Friday night at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium, with Jackie Lis and Taylor Pannell each launching a pair of long balls in front of an announced crowd of 1,864.

The offensive avalanche produced 13 scoring plays, two lead changes, and a 9-0 Texas Tech run that turned a one-run game into a runaway. Florida, which briefly knotted the score at 7-7 in the second inning, was unable to corral a Red Raider lineup that punished four different Gator pitchers.

How It Happened

Texas Tech struck first, plating three runs in the top of the first. Jasmyn Burns lined a two-run single to left to score Mia Williams and Lis, and Pannell tacked on another run when her lineout to left brought home H. Toney. The Gators answered immediately. Kendall Grover doubled to deep center to score Taylor Shumaker and Jocelyn Erickson, and Kenleigh Cahalan followed with a two-run blast to center off Kaitlyn Terry, pushing Florida ahead 4-3.

That lead lasted exactly half an inning. Williams led off the second with a two-run homer to center that scored Logan Halleman, and Lis followed two batters later with another two-run shot to left, giving the Red Raiders a 7-4 cushion. Florida punched back in the bottom half when Ava Brown crushed a three-run homer to left off Terry, scoring G. Comia and Shumaker to tie the game at 7-7.

From there, it was all Texas Tech. Pannell led off the third with a solo homer to left, and Lis capped a four-run frame with a three-run shot to center, scoring Halleman and M. Davis. Pannell's second blast of the night — a two-run drive to left in the fourth that scored L. Allred — pushed the margin to 13-7.

The fifth inning provided the exclamation point. Allred reached on a throwing error by Florida second baseman G. Comia, scoring Lis. Pannell drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in Burns, and pitcher NiJaree Canady walked with the bases loaded to score Terry, completing the 9-0 run that stretched the lead to 16-7.

Turning Point

The pivotal sequence came in the top of the third. After Florida had clawed back to even the score, Pannell's leadoff homer to left put Texas Tech back in front 8-7. Two batters later, Lis hammered her second homer of the game — a three-run shot to center — to balloon the lead to 11-7. Florida never again threatened, and the Red Raider lineup continued to rake against the Gator bullpen.

The pitching change to Canady proved equally decisive. After Terry surrendered six hits and four earned runs across two innings, Canady stabilized the staff with three scoreless frames, allowing just three hits while striking out three.

Star of the Game

Lis was the unquestioned headliner, going 3-for-3 with two home runs, four runs scored, five RBIs, and a walk. Her two long balls — a two-run shot in the second and a three-run drive in the third — were the offensive backbone of Texas Tech's surge. Pannell deserves co-billing after going 2-for-3 with two homers, two runs, four RBIs, and a walk, including the leadoff homer in the third that flipped the lead for good.

For Florida, Brown's three-run homer accounted for nearly half of the Gators' offense, and Cahalan added a two-run blast and a 2-for-3 night. Shumaker reached base three times via a hit and two walks.

What It Means

The Red Raiders sent a thunderous message, demonstrating they can scorch quality pitching from top to bottom of their lineup. With Canady locking down the back end on the mound and the offense producing five homers, Texas Tech showed the kind of two-way punch that travels well in the postseason.

For the Florida Gators, the loss represents a difficult home setback in front of their own fans. The bullpen was tagged for double-digit runs, and Florida will need to recalibrate quickly. Brown and Cahalan flashed their power, but the Gators were unable to slow Lis and Pannell, who combined to drive in nine of the Red Raiders' 16 runs.
