SEC Teams Set to Host, Travel for NCAA Softball Regionals
The road to the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City begins Friday, and the Southeastern Conference is heavily represented, with a dozen teams earning bids to the 2026 NCAA Softball Tournament. The conference flexed its muscle by securing six of the top eight national seeds, ensuring that a significant portion of the postseason will run through SEC territory.
Among the top seeds hosting opening-round regionals are the No. 6 Florida Gators and the No. 7 Tennessee Lady Vols. In Gainesville, Florida is preparing for a showdown with Florida A&M to kick off its journey. Meanwhile, Tennessee will welcome Virginia, Indiana, and Northern Kentucky to Knoxville for what will be the 21st consecutive regional hosted at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium. The Lady Vols are slated to open against Northern Kentucky on Friday.
Also heading into the postseason fray is No. 20 Mississippi State. The Bulldogs travel to the West Coast for the Eugene Regional, where they will face Saint Mary's on Friday evening. This marks Mississippi State's 20th all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament. All three teams are looking to start strong in the double-elimination format and advance to the Super Regionals next weekend.
