Lead Story: Lexington Becomes the Center of the SEC Universe
Kroger Field is about to get the full national spotlight. SEC Network's SEC Nation and Marty & McGee will both broadcast live from the William T. Young Library in Lexington on Saturday ahead of Kentucky's home showdown with No. 13 Alabama, with SEC Nation kicking off at 9 a.m. ET and Marty & McGee following from 12-12:45 p.m. ET. Paul Finebaum will also host his weekday show live from the same location Friday from 3-7 p.m. ET. Matt Barrie now hosts SEC Nation alongside analyst Chase Daniel, reporter Marion Crowder, and mainstays Finebaum, Tim Tebow, and Roman Harper.
The stakes match the spectacle. Kentucky gets Alabama at home on ABC at 3:30 p.m. — a massive national draw for a Wildcats team that has just two wins in 42 all-time meetings with the Crimson Tide, the last coming in a 40-34 overtime thriller in October 1997. Alabama has won eight straight in the series, including a 49-21 win in Lexington in Week 11 of the 2023 season, the last time these teams met.
Alabama arrives off a 48-10 dismantling of East Carolina in which freshman quarterback Keelon Russell threw for 256 yards and added 86 rushing yards and a score. Saturday will mark Russell's first career road start, and the Wildcats will look to make Kroger Field as hostile as possible.

Kentucky basketball is getting an early jump on one of the nation's top 2028 prospects. Five-star small forward DJ Okoth will take an unofficial visit to Lexington on Oct. 2 — the same weekend as Big Blue Madness — according to Dushawn London of 247Sports. The 6-foot-6, 180-pound Bartlett (Tenn.) standout also told London he plans to visit Tennessee on Oct. 16 and Vanderbilt on Nov. 14. Okoth, ranked No. 17 nationally, No. 5 among small forwards, and No. 1 in Tennessee per the 247Sports Composite, averaged 13.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.5 blocks while shooting 56% from the field as a sophomore, earning TSSAA Class 4A Mr. Basketball honors and leading Bartlett to its first state title since 2001. He holds nearly 20 offers, including Mississippi State, Missouri, and Ole Miss.
On the softball diamond, 2028 infielder Joley Bennett, the top prospect in Louisiana's class of 2028, committed to LSU on Sunday, per D1Softball.
