LEAD STORY: Longhorns Rally Past Oregon to Secure First CWS Berth Since 2022
AUSTIN, Texas — For the first time since 2022, the Texas Longhorns are headed back to the Men's College World Series.
No. 6 Texas erased an early deficit and leaned on a moment of magic from shortstop Adrian Rodriguez, whose go-ahead, two-run double in the top of the eighth inning delivered a dramatic 6-5 victory over No. 11 Oregon in the NCAA Austin Super Regional on Sunday night. The win lifts a significant weight for head coach Jim Schlossnagle and a program that had fallen short of Omaha in three consecutive seasons.
The Longhorns stormed out of the gates with authority. Aiden Robbins (24th home run, third on UT's single-season list) and Carson Tinney (22nd) launched back-to-back solo shots off Ducks starter Will Sanford on just six total pitches in the first inning, sending UFCU Disch-Falk Field into a frenzy. Robbins' blast traveled 385 feet at 102 mph off the bat, while Tinney's 418-foot opposite-field tank registered a 110 mph exit velocity. Texas scratched two more in the second to build a 4-0 lead, but Oregon chipped away with runs in the second, third, and sixth innings, eventually tying the game at 4-4.
With the season teetering, Rodriguez stepped in with two outs in the eighth and ripped a double down the left-field line to reclaim the lead. Freshman right-hander Sam Cozart then slammed the door with two perfect innings, striking out four to notch his ninth save and send the Longhorns to their 39th all-time CWS appearance. Texas will now await its opening opponent in Omaha.

Georgia heads to Omaha after wild extra-inning slugfest: The No. 3 Bulldogs outlasted Mississippi State 11-9 in 10 innings on Sunday. Daniel Jackson delivered the go-ahead home run in the top of the 10th, Kolby Branch homered twice, and Caden Aoki struck out nine over 5.2 innings. Georgia is headed to the Men's College World Series.
SEC sends three teams to MCWS: Ole Miss, Texas, and Georgia have all advanced to the Men's College World Series. SEC Network's Jared Mitchell broke down the strengths of each club, noting both the Bulldogs and Longhorns possess the depth and momentum to make deep runs in Omaha.
Alabama-Oklahoma State suspended, resumes Monday: Game two of the NCAA Tuscaloosa Super Regional was halted Sunday evening due to heavy precipitation. The Crimson Tide and Cowgirls (softball) will resume the suspended contest Monday, June 8, at 11 a.m. CT with gates opening at 10 a.m.
Missouri women's golf posts best finish in school history: The Tigers placed 12th at the NCAA Finals, shattering their previous program-best of 16th set in 2005. MU's 1,175 stroke total topped the prior record by 30 strokes. Freshman Ebba Liljeberg led the way with a 30th-place finish at +2, followed by senior Addie Dobson (46th, +7) and Fleur van Beek (55th, +9).

RECRUITING BUZZ: Kentucky Offers Coveted 2027 Point Guard
Mark Pope kept the momentum rolling Sunday evening. Fresh off 2027 commit Ryan Hampton's morning announcement, Kentucky extended an offer to four-star 2027 point guard Jaxson Davis, the No. 42 overall prospect in the cycle per 247 Sports and the top-ranked player in Illinois.
The 6-foot-1 guard from Warren Township (Gurnee, Ill.) announced the offer on Instagram. Davis is coming off his second consecutive Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year award and has impressed on the EYBL circuit this spring with MeanStreets, averaging 14.2 points, 5.2 assists, and 1.6 steals while shooting nearly 39 percent from deep. His game draws comparisons to former Wildcat Tyrese Maxey — a player Davis says he models his game after.
Kentucky enters a crowded recruitment here: Missouri, Iowa, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Purdue, Ohio State, Michigan, and Notre Dame are all involved.
GAMES TO WATCH
No games are scheduled for today, but circle Monday morning: the Tuscaloosa Super Regional resumes at 11 a.m. CT as Alabama looks to punch its ticket to Oklahoma City.
