Lead Story: Kellan Hall Will Decide at the Under Armour All-American Game — and Kentucky Is Squarely in the Picture
The nation's No. 1 player in the class of 2028 now has a locked-in decision date. Kellan Hall, the standout from Christian Academy of Louisville, will announce his college commitment at the Under Armour All-American Game on January 3 — 4 p.m. Eastern, live on ESPN. Hall has pointed to that date for months, and his father, Draper Hall, removed any remaining doubt on WLAP's Sunday Morning Sports Talk, shutting down talk that the timeline could move.
"The Under Armour All-American Game, as most of us know, it's a very prestigious game. The best of the best play in this game, and he really just felt like it would be a really good platform in front of America, especially for a Kentucky kid," Draper Hall said, noting that former No. 1 overall recruits have historically come from states like Florida and Georgia. "He just felt like it would be a great look for the state of Kentucky to be able to make that announcement on such a huge platform."
The stakes for the Kentucky Wildcats are obvious. Hall has visited Lexington numerous times this season, and the signs have trended Kentucky's way of late — all while the Wildcats sit alone atop the SEC at 5-1 in conference play, 7-1 overall, and ranked No. 9 in the country heading into a bye week. Landing the in-state No. 1 overall prospect would change the perception of Kentucky football on the recruiting trail in a way few single commitments could.
Quick Hits
- Mizzou gets its star back. All-American running back Ahmad Hardy has returned to practice for the Missouri Tigers. With a reported two-weeks-of-full-practice requirement in play, the Texas home game looks like the likeliest return target — though a Saturday appearance isn't fully off the table.
- Two Wildcats crack CBS Sports' preseason top 101. Milan Momcilovic lands at No. 17 after hitting 48.6% from three on 280 attempts at Iowa State last season, and sophomore big man Malachi Moreno checks in at No. 49 after averaging 7.8 PTS, 6.3 REB and 1.5 BLK as a freshman. Kentucky is one of 30 teams with at least two players on the list.
- Oklahoma sweeps in Tuscaloosa. The Sooners (11-7, 4-5 SEC) took down Alabama volleyball (9-10, 1-9 SEC) in straight sets Sunday at Foster Auditorium. Missouri volleyball (13-8, 6-3 SEC) kept rolling as well, hitting .254 with 12 blocks while holding Georgia to .188 in a four-set win.
- Fall ball results roll in. Alabama softball swept a Sunday road doubleheader in Fulton, Miss., beating Southern Miss 4-3 and Itawamba Community College 4-2. On the diamond, Kentucky wrapped fall baseball action against Morehead State.
- Strong weekends on the course and court. The Georgia Bulldogs sit in second place after an even-par opening round at the Ka'anapali Classic in Maui, while Tennessee's Orel Kimhi went a perfect 4-0 in singles at the RTC Collegiate Invite in Rome, Georgia, leading the Vols with six total victories.
Portal Watch
A quiet 12 hours on the transfer front — no new portal entries or commitments to report across the SEC. We'll keep monitoring as basketball season tips off and football's stretch run shakes out depth charts.
Recruiting Buzz
The Georgia Bulldogs picked up a Sunday pledge from 2027 quarterback Bo Bryan of Nashville's Battle Ground Academy — the son of country music star and lifelong Bulldogs fan Luke Bryan. In his first season as a starter, the 6'1", 200-pound Bryan has completed 73.5% of his passes for 2,006 yards with 30 touchdowns against just 3 interceptions. His other publicly reported offers came from North Alabama, UT-Martin and Austin Peay, but the production — and the ball security — speaks for itself.
Games to Watch
No SEC games are scheduled today, but there's still competition on the calendar: the No. 1-ranked Auburn men's golf team opens play at the prestigious East Lake Cup today in Atlanta, a three-day event (Oct. 26-28) at East Lake Golf Club featuring the final four teams from last season's NCAA Championship. Georgia continues its pursuit of the lead at the Ka'anapali Classic in Maui.
Looking ahead to the weekend: it's Georgia-Florida week, with the rivalry relocating to Atlanta this year and the Bulldogs opening as a 10.5-point favorite over an unpredictable Gators squad. Missouri, meanwhile, opens as a nearly 10-point favorite ahead of its rivalry trip to Fayetteville to face Arkansas — a chance for the Tigers to prove their road mettle.
