LEAD STORY: Jamal Roberts Makes Missouri History

Missouri running back Jamal Roberts has been the SEC's most productive ball carrier this season, and the conference has now recognized it. Roberts was named SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week, sharing the award with South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers, after running for 222 yards and two touchdowns on 34 carries in the Tigers' 27-6 win over Texas A&M.

The performance put Roberts in Missouri's record book. According to MUTigers.com, he is the first player in program history to post back-to-back 200-yard rushing games. He is also only the third SEC running back in the past 20 seasons to do it, joining Alabama's Derrick Henry and LSU's Leonard Fournette, who both did it in 2015. Through six games, Roberts leads the SEC with 828 rushing yards, which ranks second nationally.

He could add to those numbers quickly. Missouri plays at Ole Miss on Saturday afternoon, and the Rebels rank last in the SEC in rushing defense. Roberts has been carrying the Tigers' offense, and Ole Miss's run defense will have to slow him down.

QUICK HITS

  • Kenny Minchey's former coach is "not surprised one bit." Kentucky quarterback Kenny Minchey, a former blue-chip recruit from Hendersonville, Tennessee, has led the Wildcats to a 5-1 record with two top-10 wins after transferring from Notre Dame, where he spent three seasons. His former head coach in South Bend praised him publicly: "Kenny is a dang good quarterback and a heck of a football player. I'm not surprised one bit he's having the success he's having." Kentucky is now a top-15 team in the playoff race.

  • Georgia's lines earn weekly honors. After Georgia's win at Alabama, offensive lineman Dontrell Glover was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week and Joseph Jonah-Ajoye was named Defensive Lineman of the Week. Up front, the Bulldogs' quarterback completed more than 80% of his passes on the road, and the backup running backs ran for almost 200 yards. On defense, Georgia held one of the country's most productive offenses to about 50% passing, two touchdowns and roughly 30% less total offense than its average. Next up is the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry against Auburn (3-2) on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.

  • Caroline Kerr adds a ninth career Setter of the Week award. Tennessee's Caroline Kerr was named SEC Co-Setter of the Week, her third time this season and ninth in her career. She led the Lady Vols to home sweeps of Ole Miss and LSU.

  • Missouri volleyball ends its skid. After three straight losses, Missouri beat Auburn in five sets Sunday at the Hearnes Center. The Tigers are now 9-8 overall and 2-3 in SEC play.

  • Ole Miss's Battesti reaches the singles final. At the ITA Regional Championships in Baton Rouge, Ole Miss's Alice Battesti won a three-set match over LSU's Tegan Bush to reach the singles final. The Rebels' doubles team of Andrea Nova and Alice Soulie finished as runners-up.

  • Golf update. No. 20 Ole Miss is fourth after two rounds of the Illini Women's Invitational at Medinah Country Club. Alabama is sixth at the Haskins Intercollegiate at 10-over 586 (295-291) after 36 holes.

RECRUITING BUZZ

There were no new SEC commitments overnight. Texas A&M missed out on one target, according to ESPN: Ryan Carter, a 6-foot guard from Pennsylvania ranked No. 13 in the 2027 SC Next 100, committed to North Carolina. She picked the Tar Heels over Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Duke and Indiana.

On the basketball court, Georgia's Brandon Klatsky, David Ugonna Ike and Andrew Osasuyi met with the media Monday to discuss preseason practice ahead of the Bulldogs' preseason game against Charlotte.

GAMES TO WATCH

No SEC games are scheduled today. Because of expected bad weather Wednesday, Oklahoma moved Game Three of its Battle Series in Norman up to tonight at 6:30 p.m.
