LEAD STORY: Kentucky's 31-21 Upset at Texas A&M Sends Shockwaves Through the SEC
Kentucky walked into College Station as a 16.5-point underdog and walked out with a 31-21 victory over then-No. 9 Texas A&M, a result that has flipped the narrative around both programs in the span of a weekend. The Wildcats sit at 2-1 and own one of the most impressive road wins of the 2026 season, and the national conversation has shifted from whether Kentucky can compete in the SEC to whether the Wildcats can reach the postseason.
The numbers are already moving. ESPN's College Football Power Index now gives Kentucky a 53.3% chance of reaching a bowl game and a 3.2% shot at the College Football Playoff. Brett McMurphy of On3 projects the Wildcats to face Cincinnati in the Birmingham Bowl on Dec. 29, while ESPN's Kyle Bonagura has Kentucky matched up with South Florida in the Gasparilla Bowl on Dec. 18. Sports Illustrated's Bryan Fischer slots Kentucky against Nebraska in the Music City Bowl on Dec. 30. Not everyone is convinced — CBS Sports and Athlon Sports both left Kentucky out of their bowl projections, with a remaining schedule that features five ranked opponents and road trips to South Carolina and Oklahoma. According to A Sea of Blue, Kentucky projects as an underdog in every remaining game except this week's home date with South Alabama and a Week 8 matchup with Vanderbilt.
On the other side, the fallout for Texas A&M was swift. The Aggies plunged to No. 23 in the latest AP Top 25, and per ESPN, Texas A&M's head coach has challenged the roster to respond as the Aggies head to Death Valley to face No. 10 LSU. LSU enters that game coming off its own road loss at Ole Miss, per And The Valley Shook, while Ole Miss jumped into the top five of the AP poll after the win. The Aggies' trip to Baton Rouge now carries the weight of two programs looking to reset their seasons.

Alabama baseball begins its first full week of fall practice. The Crimson Tide return to Sewell-Thomas Stadium on Tuesday at 1:50 p.m. CT, with identical sessions Wednesday and Thursday before intrasquad scrimmages Friday through Sunday.
Texas women's basketball sets its SEC/ACC Challenge tip. The Longhorns will host Louisville on Dec. 2 at Moody Center, with tip time and TV network now finalized. In Fayetteville, Arkansas men's basketball opened official team practice Monday morning, with the staff meeting local media to discuss the start of the season.
Texas women's tennis' Mathilde Ngijol-Carré reached the third round of ITA All-American prequalifying in Cary, N.C., winning her second-round match before falling in the third.

RECRUITING BUZZ
Missouri lands 4-star forward Cameron Barnes for its 2027 class. Eric Bossi of 247Sports was first to report that the Lee's Summit West combo forward has pledged to the Tigers, giving Missouri its second commitment in the cycle. Barnes checks in at 6-7, 245 pounds and ranks No. 111 in the 247Composite (0.9420) and No. 114 on On3 (91.03). He held offers from TCU, Oklahoma State and Arizona State and plays his summer ball with MoKan Elite.
247Sports' scouting report labels Barnes a "role player extraordinaire" — a willing screener and defender with a nearly 6-foot-11 wingspan who posted 1.8 assists against 1.4 turnovers as a frontcourt decision-maker, and shot 67% from the line and 30% from three. He joins high 4-star combo guard Scottie Adkinson, a fellow MoKan Elite product who has been committed to Missouri for more than a year. Per Rock M Nation, the Tigers plan to add one more high school recruit in the class.
Texas softball adds a 2028 headliner. Right-handed pitcher Lauren Schellhammer of Prior Lake, Minnesota, committed to the Longhorns after a weekend visit to Austin. Schellhammer is ranked No. 4 in the Line Drive Media 2028 HOT 100 and joins a Texas program that has won consecutive Women's College World Series titles.
Outside the conference, ESPN reports SC Next 100 point guard Javion Tyndale committed to Seton Hall over a final list of West Virginia, Providence, UNLV, Loyola Chicago and St. Bonaventure.
