SEC Morning Report: Mizzou Rebuilds Frontcourt, Diamond Action Heats Up

Mizzou Overhauls Frontcourt, Now Hunts for Guards

The Missouri Tigers have aggressively addressed their frontcourt needs via the transfer portal, securing commitments from forwards Bryson Tiller (formerly of Kansas), Jamier Jones (formerly of Providence), and Jaylen Carey (formerly of Tennessee). The trio brings significant size, athleticism, and SEC experience to a roster in need of an interior presence. Tiller, a 6-foot-11 former 5-star recruit, provides a defensive anchor after averaging 1.3 blocks per game as a freshman. Jones, a dynamic wing, showcased his scoring potential in the Big East, while Carey is a seasoned forward familiar with the physicality of the SEC.

This decisive focus on forwards and posts, however, leaves the backcourt as a primary area of concern. Currently, the Tigers project to rely on incoming freshman Jason Crowe, Jr. and redshirt freshman Aaron Rowe for primary ball-handling duties. While Jones has the versatility to play some shooting guard, the roster lacks proven collegiate experience at the guard positions.

With the transfer portal open until April 21st, the attention now shifts to finding at least one, and possibly two, experienced guards to balance the roster. The program has successfully locked up top targets at positions of need in the frontcourt; now, the final pieces of the puzzle must come from the backcourt to complete the offseason rebuild.
