LEAD STORY: Kentucky Basketball Stacks Recruiting Wins on Two Fronts
Kentucky basketball delivered a pair of recruiting headlines in the last 12 hours, and both signal how aggressively the Wildcats are working the 2027 and 2028 classes now that the 2026-27 roster is nearly finalized following Saturday's addition of Mark Mitchell.
The bigger splash: 5-star power forward Benjamin Berrouet will take an official visit to Lexington from Friday, Oct. 9 through Sunday, Oct. 11, his father told A Sea of Blue. The 6-foot-7, 240-pound forward from Dynamic Prep in Irving, Texas, is ranked No. 13 nationally, No. 2 among power forwards, and No. 3 in Texas in the 2028 class per the 247Sports Composite — and as high as No. 5 in his class by ESPN. Berrouet already holds nearly 35 offers, including Houston, Texas, Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, and Louisville. Kentucky first offered on July 7, and less than three months later has an official visit on the books. The visit weekend coincides with Kentucky football hosting LSU at Kroger Field and the Keeneland fall meet, with reports suggesting a still-unannounced third basketball exhibition could land that weekend as well.
Kentucky also made the top 10 for 5-star 2027 point guard Nasir Anderson of Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Anderson — No. 8 overall, No. 2 point guard, and No. 4 in Florida per the 247Sports Composite — cut his list to Kentucky, North Carolina, UConn, Providence, Syracuse, Indiana, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and Virginia. A physical, downhill guard who thrives in transition, Anderson would join a 2027 class that already includes 5-star small forward Ryan Hampton. Kentucky isn't considered the favorite here, but three SEC programs making the cut ensures this recruitment stays on the conference radar.
