SEC Baseball: Georgia Bulldogs Dominates Long Island University Sharks 18-2
Teams: Georgia Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. (05/28/2026) — The Georgia Bulldogs overwhelmed the Long Island University Sharks 18-2 on Thursday at Foley Field, pairing a relentless 15-play offensive output with a dominant start from Joey Volchko in one of the most lopsided wins of Georgia's 2026 season. The Bulldogs never trailed, never let the game tie, and turned a single early rally into a runaway that reached double digits by the fifth inning.

How It Happened

Georgia broke the game open in the third inning and never looked back. The Bulldogs pushed across the first runs when K. Ishikawa reached on an infield single to third, scoring D. Jackson, with R. Lujo and B. Hudson both crossing the plate on a throwing error to make it 3-0. Ryan Wynn followed with an RBI single to center to plate Ishikawa, and Jack Arcamone capped the frame with a two-run home run to right, staking Georgia to a 6-0 advantage.

The lead only grew. Wynn launched a two-run homer to left in the fourth, scoring Hudson, to push the margin to 8-0. The fifth inning turned into an outright barrage: R. Black homered to right, Daniel Jackson drove a two-run shot to left scoring T. Phelps, Brennan Hudson homered to right center, and K. Branch added an RBI single to center to score Wynn, stacking the Bulldogs' lead at 13-0.

The Sharks finally answered in the sixth, scratching across a run as N. Sorensen scored on a passed ball to make it 13-1. But Georgia immediately reasserted control, with Rylan Lujo homering to left center, Hudson going deep again to right, and Wynn adding his second homer of the day to center, ballooning the score to 17-1. C. Johnson homered to right center in the seventh for the Bulldogs' 18th run. Long Island closed the scoring in the ninth when M. Breton walked with the bases loaded, plating N. Matson for the final 18-2 margin.

Turning Point

The third inning decided everything. Georgia entered the frame in a scoreless game and exited it with a 6-0 lead, sparked by the Ishikawa infield single and the throwing error that brought home a pair of unearned runs. Arcamone's two-run homer to close the inning gave the Bulldogs a cushion that Volchko made feel insurmountable. With no lead changes and no ties the entire afternoon, that six-run third inning was the sequence that put the result out of reach.

Star of the Game

Ryan Wynn delivered the standout performance, finishing 4-for-5 with four runs scored, four RBI and two home runs. Wynn contributed across multiple innings of the rout — an RBI single in the third, a two-run homer in the fourth, and a solo shot in the sixth — touching the scoreboard inning after inning.

Wynn had plenty of company. Brennan Hudson went 2-for-2 with four runs, three RBI and two home runs, while Daniel Jackson added a 2-for-3 line with four runs, two RBI and a homer. Rylan Lujo (3-for-5, 1 HR, 2 RBI) and Jack Arcamone (3-for-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI) rounded out a lineup that did damage from top to bottom.

On the mound, Joey Volchko set the tone with six innings of no-hit baseball, allowing one run while striking out 10. Teddy Brennan followed with a scoreless inning and three strikeouts, and the Georgia staff combined to limit Long Island to two runs.

What It Means

For Georgia, the 18-2 victory is a statement of offensive depth, with five players homering and Wynn, Hudson and Jackson combining for five long balls and 11 RBI. Backed by Volchko's commanding start, the Bulldogs showed they can win comprehensively on both sides of the ball at Foley Field.

For Long Island, the result was a tough afternoon against a clicking SEC lineup. The Sharks were outplayed but did manufacture runs late, with Sorensen and Matson each scoring and Breton driving in a run. Cord Dobrinski and Nicholas Delvecchio each notched a hit, and Noah Tabaie provided steady relief with two innings of one-run work. Long Island will look to regroup and build on those bright spots moving forward.
