LEAD STORY: Tennessee's Biggest Recruiting Battle Comes to a Head July 22
The wait is almost over for the top prospect in the state of Tennessee. Five-star Chattanooga Baylor running back David Gabriel Georges will announce his college commitment live on Wednesday, July 22 at 5:30 p.m. ET, with the broadcast airing on the CBS Sports College Football YouTube channel and CBS Sports HQ, per 247Sports. His finalists: the Tennessee Volunteers, Ohio State, and the Ole Miss Rebels.
Gabriel Georges took visits to all three schools in a tight window — Ohio State on May 29, Tennessee on June 5, and Ole Miss on June 12 — but the intel points to a two-horse race between the Volunteers and the Buckeyes. The powerfully built back has reportedly run a sub-4.40 40-yard dash in high school, the kind of size-speed combination that has made him the most coveted player in the state.
The money is significant, too. According to On3's Chris Low, Tennessee is reportedly offering an NIL package in the neighborhood of $2 million per season — reportedly well above what Ohio State is willing to put on the table. Whether that's enough to keep the state's top player home in orange, we'll find out in eight days.

PORTAL WATCH
A quiet 12 hours on the transfer front — no new SEC portal entries or commitments to report. With rosters largely set for the summer, expect movement to stay sparse until the next enrollment window pressure point.
RECRUITING BUZZ
No new commitments overnight, but the board is heating up. Five-star wide receiver Monshun Sales, a top Texas Longhorns target, has set his decision date — now just four days away. Texas already holds a top-five 2027 class, per the Austin American-Statesman, anchored by five-star offensive lineman Ismael Camara and defensive back Brandon Sherrard. The latest Rivals300 update brought more good news for the Longhorns: commit Easton Royal checks in at No. 3 overall, and fellow pledge Kyron Brown earned a rankings bump. And of course, all SEC recruiting eyes turn to the David Gabriel Georges announcement on July 22 — see the lead story above.
GAMES TO WATCH
No games on the SEC slate today — a quiet midsummer Tuesday. Circle July 22 for the Gabriel Georges commitment broadcast, and keep an eye on Monshun Sales' decision later this week.
