Kentucky Aggressively Courting Transfers to Shape 2026-27 Roster
The Kentucky Wildcats are making significant moves in the transfer portal, engaging with a host of prospects to build a competitive roster for the upcoming season. With needs in both the frontcourt and backcourt, the staff is actively pursuing players who can provide scoring, size, and versatility. The Wildcats have recently hosted or scheduled visits with several high-priority targets who could make an immediate impact in Lexington.
Syracuse transfer forward Donnie Freeman is a primary focus for Kentucky, having recently completed a visit. Freeman is a versatile scorer and is also considering St. John’s and Tennessee. To bolster their interior presence, the Wildcats are also targeting 7-foot-5 center Gabe Dynes, a native of the Bluegrass State who is expected to visit this week. Another key target is James Madison forward Justin McBride, a proven scorer and rebounder who can stretch the floor with his three-point shooting.
Kentucky is also evaluating numerous guards, including Colgate's Jalen Cox, who offers well-rounded production, and Toledo freshman Leroy Blyden Jr., an efficient scorer who has met with the staff via Zoom. The Wildcats have also been linked to a number of other talented players in the portal, signaling a comprehensive effort to construct a roster capable of competing at the highest level in the SEC.
