SEC Morning Report: Mizzou's Questionable List Looms Over Top-15 Trip to Oxford
Teams: Alabama Alabama Auburn Auburn Georgia Georgia Miss State Miss State Missouri Missouri Oklahoma Oklahoma Ole Miss Ole Miss Texas A&M Texas A&M

LEAD STORY: Injury Report Clouds No. 13 Mizzou at No. 9 Ole Miss

Saturday's top-15 game in Oxford is the biggest one on the SEC schedule, and the injury report is long on both sides. The SEC Wednesday night availability report for No. 13 Missouri at No. 9 Ole Miss lists 11 Tigers as questionable, according to Rock M Nation. The biggest name on that list is wide receiver Cayden Lee, who leads the SEC in receiving. Quarterback Austin Simmons is listed as probable, so Missouri expects its signal-caller to play, though his top target is uncertain.

Ole Miss has bigger problems. The Rebels list eight players as out, including wide receiver Izaiah Hartrup, an O'Fallon, Missouri, native who would have faced his home-state school. Both teams have depth issues at receiver. Practice reports over the rest of the week will matter more than usual before kickoff.

The stakes are high for Missouri. The Tigers have already beaten Florida at home and finally got past Texas A&M, and Rock M Nation's coverage says a road win over a top-10 Ole Miss team would make Mizzou a legitimate playoff contender. Big road wins have been hard for Missouri to come by. Saturday in Oxford is a chance to show the Tigers can bring their best football into a hostile stadium.

QUICK HITS

  • Georgia hosts Auburn after the Alabama win. Georgia is 6-0 at the halfway point after a physical win over Alabama. According to a Thursday Dawg Bites column, the Bulldogs beat the Crimson Tide without leading rushers Nate Frazier and Chauncey Bowens. Dwight Phillips Jr. stepped in and is now Georgia's leading rusher, and freshman Craig Dandridge leads the team in receiving. Against Alabama, three tight ends and three wide receivers made key plays, and two running backs topped 65 rushing yards. Auburn arrives off a bye week. The Tigers have not won in Sanford Stadium since 2005 and have not scored more than 13 points there since 2009.

  • Texas men's golf wins at St Andrews. The No. 8 Longhorns won the team title at the St Andrews Links Collegiate, beating their opponent 4.5-1.5 in Wednesday's championship match. Bennett, Comegys, Derbez Torres and Simmons led the way.

  • Florida State beats Auburn in exhibition. Auburn lost 82-71 to Florida State in exhibition action, according to school sites.

  • Mizzou volleyball sweeps Mississippi State. Missouri beat Mississippi State 3-0 in Columbia for back-to-back SEC wins. The Bulldogs are now on a two-game road trip.

  • Around the league: SEC Tipoff '27 media days continued in Birmingham as men's and women's basketball teams previewed their seasons. Georgia men's tennis freshmen Oliver Sanders and James Weber and sophomore Cooper Johnson each advanced through qualifying into the singles main draw at the ITA Southeast Regional. Missouri women's golf finished third at the Illini Women's Invitational, and the men's golf team placed fifth at the Bryson Invitational. Oklahoma softball alumnae Jocelyn Alo and Karlie Keeney have signed their latest professional contracts.

PORTAL WATCH

Missouri has added a transfer: CJ Gunn committed to the Tigers. The report does not list Gunn's position or previous school, so it is not yet clear how he fits Missouri's roster. We'll add details as they are confirmed.

RECRUITING BUZZ

No new commitments were reported in the last 12 hours. With most SEC teams focused on midseason conference games, recruiting news has slowed this week. Expect it to pick up after this weekend's big games, when official and unofficial visitors are often on campus.

GAMES TO WATCH

No football or basketball games are scheduled across the SEC today. The main event Thursday is soccer:

Looking ahead to Saturday:

  • No. 13 Missouri at No. 9 Ole Miss, 2:30 p.m. CT. Check the final availability report: Cayden Lee's status could decide how Missouri's passing game looks.
  • Auburn at Georgia. The undefeated Bulldogs try to extend their home win streak in the series, and Auburn tries to end a drought in Athens that goes back to 2005.

For betting angles, ESPN's Pamela Maldonado and Mark Zinno have released their Week 7 best bets, focused on SEC matchups and totals.
