Gators Capture First SEC Basketball Crown Since 2014
The Florida Gators are Southeastern Conference men's basketball champions for the first time in 12 years. Paced by a dominant and balanced offensive attack, No. 7 Florida dismantled No. 20 Arkansas 111-77 in front of a sold-out O'Connell Center crowd to clinch at least a share of the regular-season title. The win marks the program's eighth SEC crown and secures the No. 1 seed in the upcoming SEC Tournament.
Florida's offense was relentless, with seven different players scoring in double figures for only the second time in program history. The Gators were unstoppable from the floor, shooting 57% and outrebounding the Razorbacks by a staggering 51 to 31 margin. The victory was Florida's ninth in a row, and the team celebrated by cutting down the nets in Gainesville.
The Gators can win the conference title outright with a victory in either of their final two regular-season games against Mississippi State or Kentucky.
