OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (05/27/2026) — The Texas Tech Red Raiders blanked the Mississippi State Bulldogs 8-0 on Wednesday at OGE Energy Field at Devon Park, riding a Jackie Lis home run and a dominant pitching effort from NiJaree Canady to a commanding shutout victory.

Texas Tech controlled the game from the first pitch to the last, never trailing and never allowing the Bulldogs to draw even. The Red Raiders pieced together a balanced offensive night, scoring in three separate innings while Mississippi State was held off the scoreboard entirely.

## How It Happened

Texas Tech struck immediately in the first inning when Jackie Lis homered to left field, scoring Mia Williams ahead of her to make it 2-0. The Red Raiders kept the pressure on in the second, as Lauren Allred doubled to right to bring home Mihyia Davis for a 3-0 lead. Williams followed with a double to left that scored Allred and pushed the advantage to 4-0.

The Bulldogs managed only scattered contact at the plate. Morgan Stiles finished 1-for-2 and Kinley Keller reached base twice, going 1-for-1 with a walk, but Mississippi State could not string together the hits needed to mount a response.

Texas Tech blew the game open in the fifth. Lis singled to shallow left to score Williams, extending the lead to 5-0. Kaitlyn Terry then singled to center to bring in Lis, moving Texas Tech ahead 6-0. Davis capped the rally with a single to shallow right that scored Taylor Pannell, and Terry came around to score on a throwing error by right fielder Kinley Keller, making it 8-0.

## Turning Point

The game was effectively decided before the Bulldogs ever found their footing. Lis's first-inning, two-run home run set the tone, and Texas Tech's four-run cushion through two innings forced Mississippi State to play from well behind. With Canady controlling the circle, that early margin proved insurmountable. The fifth-inning outburst, which turned a 4-0 game into an 8-0 rout, removed any remaining doubt.

## Star of the Game

NiJaree Canady was the difference in the circle, tossing 4.0 innings of two-hit, scoreless ball while striking out three. She kept Bulldogs hitters off balance and never let Mississippi State build momentum. Kaitlyn Terry closed it out with a clean inning of relief, allowing no hits and no runs over 1.0 inning.

At the plate, Jackie Lis powered the offense, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, three RBI and a home run. Lis drove in or scored on multiple Texas Tech rallies, accounting for a significant share of the production. Mia Williams contributed a perfect 1-for-1 day with two runs scored, an RBI and a walk, while Mihyia Davis added two hits and an RBI. Lauren Allred and Kaitlyn Terry each chipped in a hit, a run and an RBI.

For Mississippi State, Alyssa Faircloth worked 1.1 innings, allowing four hits and four runs while striking out three. Peja Goold pitched 3.0 innings, surrendering three hits and four runs.

## What It Means

The Texas Tech Red Raiders delivered a complete performance, pairing timely hitting with shutout pitching to earn a decisive 8-0 win. The balanced attack — runs in the first, second and fifth innings — combined with Canady's work in the circle showcased a team firing on all cylinders.

For the Mississippi State Bulldogs, it was a tough loss. The offense was held to a handful of base runners and could not solve Texas Tech's pitching. Stiles and Keller provided the only hits, and Mississippi State will look to regroup after being held scoreless. The Bulldogs fell short on this night, but the box score offers clear areas to address as they move forward.
