ATHENS, Ga. (11/01/2026) — The Georgia Lady Bulldogs opened and closed with authority on Sunday, rolling past the West Georgia Wolves 92-53 at Stegeman Coliseum behind a balanced attack that put four players in double figures.

Georgia never trailed — the game featured zero lead changes and was tied only twice early — and the Lady Bulldogs won nearly every statistical category that mattered. Georgia shot 47 percent from the field and a blistering 45 percent from three-point range, while holding West Georgia to 29 percent shooting and 19 percent from deep. The Lady Bulldogs also owned the glass, 47 rebounds to 35, and forced 20 West Georgia turnovers while committing just seven of their own.

## How It Happened

Aubrey Beckham got Georgia on the board first with a layup off a Blessing Adebanjo assist at the 9:39 mark of the first quarter, and the Lady Bulldogs quickly found their stroke from outside. Nya Smith buried a 24-footer off a Jailyn Banks feed at 8:00, and Jordana Codio stretched the lead to 15-6 with a 25-foot three set up by Beckham at 5:24.

West Georgia's Meghan Gentile answered with a 26-foot triple off a Grace O'Gara assist to cut it to 17-11, but Georgia closed the quarter on a surge, with Jordan Thomas converting a layup at the buzzer for a 29-15 lead after one.

The second quarter belonged entirely to the Lady Bulldogs. Milan Brown opened the frame with a seven-foot step-back jumper, and back-to-back threes — Gentile's 23-footer for the Wolves at 6:18, then Smith's 25-footer off another Beckham assist at 6:04 — left Georgia comfortably ahead 40-19. Tyreona Sibley's driving layup with 38 seconds left sent Georgia into the locker room up 54-23.

The margin only grew from there. Smith's 12-foot pullup opened the third quarter, and even when West Georgia found brief rhythm — Ongolea Afu's 23-foot three off a Sydne Tolbert assist at 2:59 made it 66-31 — Smith answered immediately with a 26-footer off a Jordan Thomas assist. Gentile and Brown traded late baskets to close the third with Georgia ahead 73-37.

Gentile kept firing in the fourth, hitting threes at 9:20, and 8:34, and Codio capped Georgia's scoring with a 23-foot triple off a Milan Brown assist at 1:11. Mya Jones' free throw with six seconds left set the final at 92-53.

## Turning Point

Georgia's decisive blow was a 12-0 run that bridged the second and third quarters, turning a 49-23 advantage into a 60-24 lead. The stretch encapsulated the entire afternoon: West Georgia couldn't buy a basket against Georgia's defense, and the Lady Bulldogs converted the Wolves' empty possessions into points at the other end. With the lead past 35, the outcome was never in doubt over the final 15 minutes.

## Star of the Game

Dakota Howard led Georgia with 18 points and four rebounds, pacing a remarkably balanced scoring effort. Nya Smith added 15 points and two rebounds, doing much of her damage from long range with three triples among the game's key scoring plays. Blessing Adebanjo turned in the afternoon's best all-around line with 11 points, a team-high eight rebounds, and an assist, while Jordana Codio chipped in 11 points and three rebounds of her own.

For West Georgia, Meghan Gentile was a bright spot, scoring a game-high 19 points with four rebounds, repeatedly connecting from well beyond the arc. Sydne Tolbert added 12 points and four assists, and Ongolea Afu contributed nine points and four rebounds.

## What It Means

For the Georgia Lady Bulldogs, this was the kind of complete performance that builds a foundation: four double-figure scorers, a dozen assists, a plus-12 rebounding margin, and a 20-to-7 turnover edge. The three-point shooting — 45 percent as a team — and the ball security stand out as early-season signals that the offense can score efficiently at multiple levels.

The West Georgia Wolves were outplayed in Athens, but Gentile's perimeter shooting gives them a clear offensive identity to lean on. Cleaning up the 20 turnovers and improving on 29 percent shooting will be the priorities as the Wolves move forward in their 2026 campaign.
