## LEAD STORY: Georgia and Alabama Meet Again With Top-10 Stakes in Tuscaloosa

The SEC's marquee rivalry returns Saturday night at Bryant-Denny Stadium, provided the weather cooperates. Georgia and Alabama meet for the fourth time in three seasons, and DawgSports.com notes it is the third of those meetings between top-10 teams. The Georgia Bulldogs come in with a winning streak in the series after taking last season's SEC Championship Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Per DawgSports, that is only the second time since 2008 Georgia has carried a streak into this matchup.

The Bulldogs' biggest problem in this recent stretch has been the first quarter. According to DawgSports, Alabama outscored Georgia 28-0 in the opening quarter of the Crimson Tide's two wins over the Bulldogs in this span. In last December's title-game win, Georgia led 7-0 after one. With Chauncey Bowens ruled out, a healthy Nate Frazier and Dwight Phillips are expected to carry Georgia's ground game in support of quarterback Gunner Stockton. Tight end usage is one to watch, since DawgSports noted the group has been involved in both the passing and running games this fall.

On the other side of the ball, Georgia defensive back Ellis Robinson IV is likely to see plenty of Alabama receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams. With physical defensive fronts on both sides and possible hurricane-related weather in the forecast, this one could come down to which team controls the line of scrimmage.

## QUICK HITS

- **Green honored, Mizzou injury list grows:** Missouri offensive tackle Cayden Green was named the Outland Trophy National Player of the Week after the Tigers' 45-17 win over Florida, according to Rock M Nation. Green has gone three straight weeks without allowing a pressure, sack or QB hit, and Mizzou ran for 220 yards against the Gators. Green is one of seven Tigers listed as questionable on Wednesday's SEC availability report for Saturday's game against Texas A&M. The others include safety Kensley Louidor-Faustin, plus Langden Kitchen and Darris Smith, who both missed the Florida game. Cornerback Jahlil Florence and tight end Brett Norfleet are probable. Texas A&M receiver Mario Craver is listed as questionable.

- **Power K returns for LSU visit:** Kentucky announced that its Power K jerseys will return for Saturday's game against LSU at Kroger Field. The 4-1 Wildcats also spent Wednesday dealing with a viral graphic that claimed to show a quote from quarterback Kenny Minchey on display in LSU's facilities. KSR confirmed that Minchey never said it and that the graphic was fake.

- **Oklahoma volleyball takes down the champs:** Oklahoma rallied from a 2-1 deficit to beat No. 12 Texas A&M, the defending national champion, 3-2 (17-25, 25-20, 20-25, 25-23, 15-11) Wednesday night at McCasland Field House.

- **Georgia hoops rolls in preseason opener:** Freddie Dillone V scored 14 points to lead a balanced attack as Georgia beat Georgia State 94-61 in a preseason game at Stegeman Coliseum.

- **Around the league:** Hampton Beebe of top-ranked Auburn men's golf was named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week. Alabama gymnastics will hold its Ghosts and Goblins Intrasquad on Thursday, Oct. 22, at 6 p.m. CT at the Frances Smith Gymnastics Practice Facility. Georgia women's basketball released tip times for its 2026-27 schedule, which includes 15 non-conference games and 16 SEC games. Six Texas players will compete in the ITA Texas Regional Championships in Fort Worth from Oct. 8-12.
