NASHVILLE, Tenn. (11/04/2026) — Vanderbilt jumped on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons early and never relented Wednesday night at Memorial Gymnasium, cruising to a 74-51 victory behind a balanced offensive effort and a commanding 15-rebound advantage that established the game's tone from the opening tip.

The Commodores led by 12 at halftime and kept pressing throughout the second half, outrebounding Wake Forest 48-33 and committing just seven turnovers while forcing 12 from the Demon Deacons. A 7,240-strong crowd at Memorial Gymnasium saw Vanderbilt shoot 37 percent from three-point range against Wake Forest's 23 percent — a gap that proved impossible to bridge.

## How It Happened

Wake Forest drew first blood when Gavin Placide converted a layup just 17 seconds into the contest, giving the Demon Deacons an early 2-0 edge. Ace Glass answered immediately with a 26-foot three-pointer to put Vanderbilt in front 3-2, and the Commodores would not relinquish the lead for long.

The game's decisive early swing came around the 12-minute mark of the first half. Ant Brown Jr. buried back-to-back three-pointers — from 29 and 26 feet — to push Vanderbilt's advantage to 20-13, and Chandler Bing followed with a 25-footer to extend it to 25-13 at the 9:43 mark. Wake Forest responded with back-to-back long-range makes from Isaac Carr and Kevair Kennedy — the latter from 28 feet — to trim the deficit to four at 27-23 with six minutes remaining in the half.

But Vanderbilt closed the period on a decisive run. Glass connected on his third three-pointer of the half, this time from 29 feet with 1:20 on the clock, and Bing converted a 15-foot jumper in the final seconds to send the Commodores to the locker room ahead 39-27.

The second half opened with a brief Wake Forest response — Placide's turnaround jumper cut the gap to 10 at 39-29 — before Vanderbilt steadily reasserted control. Glass stretched the lead with another deep make from 34 feet, and after Placide's dunk briefly kept the Demon Deacons within range, the Commodores began pulling away for good. Brown Jr. knocked down a pair of three-pointers in rapid succession at the 10:12 and 9:38 marks, pushing the lead to 54-42 and forcing Wake Forest into a tightening deficit.

## Turning Point

Vanderbilt's 14-0 run — which stretched the score from 58-47 to an insurmountable 70-49 — was the knockout blow. Sebastian Williams-Adams ignited the stretch with a driving dunk to make it 58-47, and Glass followed at the 5:07 mark with a 33-foot three-pointer to push it to 61-47. The Commodores proceeded to score nine more unanswered as Wake Forest went cold at the worst possible moment. By the time the Demon Deacons found the net again, any realistic path to a comeback had closed.

## Star of the Game

Tyler Tanner delivered the night's most complete performance, posting a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds to go with two assists. The big man anchored Vanderbilt's physical advantage in the paint and proved consistently difficult for Wake Forest to contain inside. Glass matched his efficiency from deep, finishing with 16 points, seven rebounds, and two assists while making deep threes at crucial moments throughout the contest. Brown Jr. added 14 points and Bing chipped in 13, underscoring the collective depth Vanderbilt deployed on both ends.

For Wake Forest, Kevair Kennedy was the lone bright spot, leading all scorers with 20 points on five rebounds. Placide contributed 10 points and eight boards, and Xander Pintelon battled for eight rebounds of his own — but the Demon Deacons' collective 23 percent showing from three-point range left far too large a margin to overcome.

## What It Means

The home victory provides Vanderbilt with strong early-season momentum as the 2026 campaign gets underway. The Commodores' rebounding margin and ball security — a seven-turnover night against 12 for the Demon Deacons — point to a team capable of winning the possession battle against quality competition. The balanced scoring attack, with four players reaching double figures, adds another encouraging dimension.

For Wake Forest, the 23-point defeat surfaces clear areas requiring attention, particularly from beyond the arc and on the glass, as the Demon Deacons head into the next stretch of their schedule looking to find their footing.
