BATON ROUGE, La. (11/05/2026) — The LSU Tigers rolled to a 92-51 victory over the Texas Southern Tigers on Thursday night at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, shooting 57% from the field and outrebounding their opponent 50-29 in a wire-to-wire display of interior dominance before a crowd of 7,732.

## A Lead That Never Wavered

The game opened with early equilibrium — the score tied four times in the opening minutes — before Texas Southern's Ahmed Nedal drained a 24-footer at the 15:07 mark to give the visitors a 10-7 edge. That lead would not last. LSU answered with a 13-0 run, pushing from down 11-9 to ahead 20-13 behind Donovan Dent's playmaking and a pair of decisive dunks from Michael Ruzic (at 12:33) and Mo Dioubate's three-pointer at 11:57 to cap the stretch.

LSU never relented in the half. Ruzic converted a tip-in dunk at the 10:14 mark, then added another at 2:27 off a feed from Abdi Bashir Jr., with the Tigers carrying a commanding 47-28 lead into the locker room.

The second half opened with Brice Dessert dunking in the first 22 seconds of play, and LSU continued to push the margin methodically. Abdi Bashir Jr. knocked down a three-pointer at 9:38 to push the lead to 28, and two more long-range makes from Bashir — at 8:29 and 2:34 — stretched the advantage past 30. Divine Ugochukwu's dunk at 9:12 and a Ruzic finish at 5:03 (both assisted by Dent) underscored LSU's total control. Bashir's final three with 34 seconds remaining set the closing score at 92-51.

## Turning Point

The 13-0 first-half run was the defining sequence of the contest. Texas Southern's brief 10-7 advantage evaporated quickly once LSU established its size advantage in the paint. Ruzic's dunk at 12:33 — his second of the half — was the moment the Tigers' interior dominance became irreversible. Texas Southern shot just 24% from the field for the game and could not sustain any momentum against LSU's defensive rebounding and transition attack.

## Star of the Game

Four Tigers scored in double figures, but Saliou Niang and Abdi Bashir Jr. shared the night's top billing with 15 points each. Niang posted a double-double with 11 rebounds and 2 assists, working the glass relentlessly and providing consistent interior scoring. Bashir added 5 rebounds and a game-high 4 assists alongside his 15 points, with four of his makes coming from three-point range in the second half — finishing the closing minutes with back-to-back threes that removed any remaining doubt.

Michael Ruzic's production proved equally vital. The big man finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds — his own double-double — punctuating the night with a series of dunks that demonstrated LSU's physical advantage up front. Mo Dioubate contributed 13 points and 7 rebounds, giving the Tigers four frontcourt contributors who combined to feast inside.

For Texas Southern, guard Jason Kimbrough led all scorers with 16 points on the strength of four three-point makes, two of which came off Karris Bilal assists in the second half. His scoring kept the Tigers within range briefly in spurts, but no sustained run materialized.

## What It Means

LSU's performance underscored genuine frontcourt depth. The Tigers generated 23 assists on the night — nine coming from Donovan Dent — illustrating a ball-movement system that creates high-percentage looks. The 50-29 rebounding advantage was perhaps the most telling number: LSU controlled second-chance opportunities throughout and limited Texas Southern to single-shot possessions when the visitors did convert.

The 57% field goal shooting and four players in double figures signal a roster capable of distributing the offensive load. The one relative soft spot — 23% three-point shooting on the night — did not affect the outcome, but deeper competition may require more from beyond the arc.

For Texas Southern, Kimbrough's ability to create off the dribble and find the three-point line represents a genuine weapon going forward. The Tigers fell short in every major statistical category on Thursday, but their guard play showed flashes. A 14-turnover night against LSU's length made sustained runs impossible, and the 24% shooting from the field reflected the difficulty of operating against a disciplined defensive unit.
