COLLEGE STATION, Texas (10/01/2026) — The Texas A&M Aggies controlled the line of scrimmage and the clock on Thursday night at Kyle Field, beating the Arkansas Razorbacks 34-7 in a Southwest Classic matchup that was never close after A&M settled in.

The Aggies outgained Arkansas 401 to 214 in total yards, picked up 23 first downs to the Razorbacks' 14, and held the ball for 38:08. That gave Arkansas little room to answer.

## How It Happened

Texas A&M won with balance. The Aggies ran for 231 yards and passed for 170 more. Neither half of the offense had to carry the whole load.

The passing game was efficient. Texas A&M completed 13 of 19 throws and made the short and intermediate completions it needed to keep drives going. Marcel Reed accounted for 170 yards, which matched the Aggies' team passing total. Meanwhile, the A&M running game wore down the Arkansas front with sustained, physical drives.

The Aggies finished those drives in the end zone. KJ Edwards scored two touchdowns, and David Olano added 10 points in the kicking game. That steady scoring built a margin Arkansas could not close.

The Razorbacks had trouble staying on the field. They completed 13 of 25 passes for 111 yards and ran for 103, finishing with 214 total yards. Arkansas' lone score came on a touchdown by KJ Jackson, and Max Gilbert added the extra point. Gavin Rush led the Razorbacks with 132 yards.

The Texas A&M defense also got pressure on the quarterback. Marco Jones recorded a sack, and the Aggies forced one Arkansas turnover.

## Turning Point

The game turned on third down. Texas A&M converted nine third downs, extending drives, keeping its offense on the field, and draining the clock. Arkansas converted three.

That gap produced the lopsided time of possession: 38:08 for Texas A&M and 21:52 for Arkansas. With the Aggies holding the ball for more than 16 extra minutes, the Razorbacks had fewer chances to build momentum. When Arkansas did get the ball, it often went off the field quickly. The Arkansas defense spent long stretches on the field against a Texas A&M offense that kept moving the chains on the ground.

Those extended Aggie drives tired out the Arkansas defense and kept the Razorbacks' offense on the sideline. Over four quarters, that turned a competitive conference game into a 27-point Texas A&M win.

## Star of the Game

**KJ Edwards, Texas A&M** — Edwards was the most productive finisher on a night when Texas A&M dominated between the 20s. His two touchdowns turned long Aggie drives into points. Combined with Olano's 10 points, Edwards' scoring kept the Razorbacks from getting back into the game.

Reed also deserves credit. His 170 yards came on an efficient 13-of-19 night for the Aggies' passing game, which balanced the 231-yard rushing attack and kept the Arkansas defense from loading up against the run.

For Arkansas, Rush's 132 yards were a bright spot in a tough loss.

## What It Means

For **Texas A&M**, this was a complete performance. The Aggies ran the ball effectively, threw it efficiently, converted on third down, and dominated time of possession. Totals of 401 yards and 23 first downs show an offense that can grind out drives against an SEC opponent. On defense, A&M held Arkansas to 214 yards and a single touchdown. If the Aggies can repeat that kind of control at the line of scrimmage, they will be a difficult matchup for anyone in the conference.

For **Arkansas**, the challenge is clear. The Razorbacks were outplayed on third down and could not keep the ball long enough to slow Texas A&M. Converting 3 third downs and completing 13 of 25 passes put the Arkansas defense in a hard spot all night. Getting the offense to sustain drives and stay on schedule will be the priority before the Razorbacks return to SEC play. Rush's production gives Arkansas something to build on, but the Razorbacks will need more consistency across the offense to compete with the top of the conference.

Texas A&M leaves Kyle Field with a decisive conference win. Arkansas heads home looking for answers after a 34-7 loss.
