ATHENS, Ga. (10/15/2026) — The Auburn Tigers walked into Sanford Stadium on Thursday night and walked out with one of the most significant wins of their 2026 season, taking down the Georgia Bulldogs 27-24 in front of 93,033 in the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry.

Georgia outgained Auburn 440-366 and moved the ball through the air all night, but three Bulldogs turnovers proved too much to overcome in a game decided by a field goal's margin.

## How It Happened

This was a tale of two contrasting offenses. Auburn leaned on its ground game, pounding out 192 rushing yards while completing 16 of 28 passes for 174 yards. The Tigers converted six third downs and picked up 23 first downs, doing just enough through the air to keep Georgia's defense honest.

Georgia, meanwhile, attacked through the air. Gunner Stockton threw for 272 yards and accounted for two touchdowns, powering a Bulldogs passing attack that racked up 327 yards on 25-of-37 passing. Georgia finished with 440 total yards and 24 first downs — more than Auburn in both categories.

But the box score's most important number sat in Georgia's column: three turnovers. Auburn protected the football; Georgia did not. In a three-point game, that difference was decisive.

The time of possession battle was nearly even — Georgia held the ball for 30:27 to Auburn's 29:33 — and both teams converted six third downs. With the teams this evenly matched on the stat sheet, the giveaways tilted the field.

Auburn's scoring came from multiple sources. Christian Neptune found the end zone for a touchdown, and Alex McPherson accounted for nine points off his leg — production that loomed large in a game decided by three. Hudson Kaak was Auburn's workhorse, piling up 279 yards to lead the Tigers' offensive effort.

## Turning Point

Georgia's three turnovers defined this game. The Bulldogs did nearly everything else well — they outgained Auburn by 74 yards, completed passes at a high clip, and controlled their share of the clock. But each giveaway handed Auburn either points, field position, or a stalled Georgia drive, and the Tigers capitalized just enough.

Auburn's defense deserves credit for creating that margin. Elijah Melendez recorded a sack as part of a defensive effort that bent against Georgia's 440 yards but made the plays that mattered most. On the other side, Raylen Wilson notched a sack for Georgia, but the Bulldogs defense couldn't generate the same takeaway production that Auburn's unit delivered.

## Star of the Game

Hudson Kaak earns the nod for Auburn. His 279 yards paced a Tigers offense that needed every bit of production to keep up with Georgia's aerial attack. Combined with the 192-yard team rushing effort, Kaak's output kept Auburn's offense on schedule and kept the chains moving — 23 first downs and six third-down conversions tell the story of an offense that sustained drives when it had to.

Honorable mention goes to McPherson, whose nine points were the literal difference in a 27-24 final, and to Stockton, whose 272 yards and two touchdowns kept Georgia in the game until the end despite the turnover troubles around him.

## What It Means

For Auburn, this is a statement road win. Beating Georgia at Sanford Stadium — in front of more than 93,000 — is the kind of result that reshapes a season. The formula the Tigers used, a punishing run game paired with an opportunistic defense, travels well, and Auburn proved it can win a game in which it gets outgained by protecting the football and finishing drives.

For Georgia, the loss stings precisely because of how winnable it was. The Bulldogs moved the ball effectively, with Stockton throwing for 327 team passing yards, and matched Auburn on third downs. But three turnovers in a rivalry game is a margin few teams can survive. Georgia's path forward is clear: clean up the ball security, because the rest of the offense showed it can produce against a quality SEC defense.

In a rivalry defined by close, hard-fought games, this one added another chapter — and Auburn wrote the ending.
