## LEAD STORY: Leavitt Named SEC Offensive Player of the Week After Dismantling Auburn

LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt has been named SEC Offensive Player of the Week after one of the most complete performances of the 2026 season, powering the Tigers to a 38-17 road victory over Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday. Leavitt completed 32 of 45 passes for a career-high 387 yards and three touchdowns, then added 54 rushing yards and a fourth score on the ground — 441 yards of total offense in a game LSU controlled from start to finish.

The performance also wrote Leavitt into the LSU record books. According to LSU, he joined Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow as the only quarterbacks in program history to complete at least 30 passes in back-to-back games — rarefied company in Baton Rouge, where the standard for quarterback play was redefined during Burrow's 2019 run.

The timing could not be better for the Tigers. LSU (6-2) heads into a bye week before the biggest home date on its calendar: Alabama visits Tiger Stadium on Saturday, November 7, in a game that will kick off on ABC. Leavitt was joined among the league's weekly honorees by teammate Ross, as LSU swept up conference recognition coming out of Week 8.

## QUICK HITS

- **Tae Davis is back in Norman.** Oklahoma men's basketball officially added Davis to its roster for the 2026-27 season, the school announced Monday. A starter and double-figure scorer for the Sooners a year ago, Davis has been enrolled and taking classes since the start of the fall semester and is pursuing a fifth year of eligibility.

- **Florida-Georgia carries extra weight this year.** For the first time in six years, both the Gators and the Bulldogs enter their annual rivalry game ranked — a meeting framed by a new setting and lingering quarterback questions on both sides, per school site coverage.

- **Mississippi State turns the page to No. 11 Texas.** Fresh off their Week 8 meeting with Oklahoma in Starkville, the Bulldogs released their preview of this week's matchup with the 11th-ranked Longhorns.

- **Ole Miss track & field set its 2027 slate.** The Rebels announced schedules for the upcoming indoor and outdoor seasons Monday: seven regular-season indoor meets beginning January 8, and a seven-meet outdoor schedule opening March 19 in Oxford.

- **Alabama gymnastics goes high fashion.** The Crimson Tide will host Crimson Couture, a first-of-its-kind runway event blending fashion, artistry and athleticism, on Friday, November 20 at 7 p.m. CT inside Coleman Coliseum. On the hardwood, Alabama women's basketball tunes up Tuesday with an exhibition against Mississippi College.

## PORTAL WATCH

A quiet 12 hours on the transfer front — no new SEC portal entries or commitments to report. The most notable roster movement of the day came via a return rather than a transfer, with Tae Davis rejoining Oklahoma's basketball program for a fifth year.

## RECRUITING BUZZ

No new commitments landed in this window. With Week 9 approaching and several marquee matchups on deck — including a ranked Florida-Georgia clash — expect official visit activity to pick back up around the weekend's biggest games.

## GAMES TO WATCH

No SEC games are scheduled today, but the Week 9 slate is loaded:

- **Mississippi State vs. No. 11 Texas** — The Bulldogs host a ranked Longhorns squad in Starkville in one of the league's headline matchups.
- **Florida vs. Georgia** — A century of hate gets a fresh twist: both rivals are ranked for the first time in six years, with quarterback questions hanging over both sidelines.
- **Looking ahead: LSU vs. Alabama, November 7** — Now confirmed for an ABC broadcast, the Tigers host the Crimson Tide in Baton Rouge coming off a bye, with Leavitt playing the best football of his career.

ESPN's Read & React crew of Cole Cubelic and Roman Harper leaned into spooky season Monday, breaking down which SEC teams face the scariest remaining schedules and hustling through the storylines that will define Week 9.
