LINCOLN, Neb. (05/30/2026) — The Ole Miss Rebels erased an early three-run deficit and walked off the Arizona State Sun Devils 5-4 in 10 innings Saturday at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park, plating the decisive run on a Dom Decker sacrifice fly to left.

In a game that featured no lead changes through regulation and two ties, Ole Miss chipped away at a fast Arizona State start before forcing extra innings and finishing it in the 10th.

## How It Happened

Arizona State struck first and struck early. Dean Toigo homered to left in the top of the first to put the Sun Devils up 1-0, then delivered again in the second, lacing a single to deep right that scored Ky McGary and Brody Briggs to stretch the lead to 3-0.

Ole Miss answered immediately in the bottom of the second. Brayden Randle singled to right to bring home Hayden Federico, and Decker's fly out to left plated Owen Paino to cut the margin to 3-2. In the third, Tristan Bissetta squared the game with a solo home run to center, knotting it at 3-3.

Arizona State edged back ahead in the fourth when PJ Moutzouridis scored on a Cade Townsend wild pitch, making it 4-3. The Rebels stayed patient and broke through again in the seventh, as Austin Fawley doubled to deep left to score Federico and tie the game 4-4 — setting the stage for extra innings.

## Turning Point

The game turned on Ole Miss's ability to keep Arizona State off the board after the seventh. Wil Libbert and JP Robertson slammed the door out of the Rebel bullpen, combining for five innings of one-hit, scoreless relief with four strikeouts between them. That shutdown work bought Ole Miss the extra frames it needed. In the 10th, with Cole Goldin aboard, Decker lifted a sacrifice fly to left to score the winning run and end it 5-4.

## Star of the Game

Dean Toigo turned in the game's most productive individual line, going 2-for-5 with a run, three RBI and a home run for Arizona State. His first-inning blast and two-run single in the second accounted for all three of the Sun Devils' early runs and nearly carried them to the win.

For the Rebels, Federico set the table all afternoon, reaching base three times (1-for-3 with two walks) and scoring twice — including the seventh-inning run that forced extras. On the mound, Alex Overbay was outstanding for Arizona State, spinning 3.1 innings of one-hit, scoreless ball with five strikeouts, while Eli Buxton added 2.1 hitless, scoreless frames with three strikeouts. Ole Miss starter Cade Townsend logged 5.0 innings with seven strikeouts, and Libbert's three perfect innings (3.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 K) proved pivotal in keeping the game within reach.

## What It Means

The Rebels showed resilience, rallying from a 3-0 hole and answering every Arizona State push to take the one-run decision. Their bullpen depth — particularly the scoreless work from Libbert and Robertson — was the difference in a game that hinged on the late innings.

For Arizona State, the loss came despite a strong offensive showing from Toigo and quality outings from Overbay and Buxton. The Sun Devils built an early lead and got the ball deep into the game with their relievers, but couldn't hold off the Rebels in the 10th. Both teams traded blows in a tightly contested, hard-fought game decided by a single run after 10 innings.
