Florida stayed perfect in SEC play Saturday, beating Ole Miss 52-28 at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The 24-point win moves the Gators to 2-0 in the conference, level with Georgia at the top of the SEC standings. Ole Miss falls to 1-1 and now has to regroup after giving up more than 50 points on the road.

Here are three takeaways from Gainesville.

## 1. Jadan Baugh Drove Florida's Scoring

Jadan Baugh was the most productive player on the field. His **three touchdowns** account for 18 of Florida's 52 points, more than a third of the Gators' total. On a day when Florida scored almost every way it tried, Baugh was the player it kept going to near the goal line.

The Gators also got scoring from other players. **Patrick Durkin added 10 points**, which means Baugh and Durkin together produced 28 points, as many as Ole Miss scored all game. **Aaron Philo put up 196 yards**, so Florida had a steady attack between the 20s to go with its finishing in the red zone.

Florida's offense won this game without needing one player to rack up huge yardage. The Gators turned their possessions into points, and that is the most important thing an offense can do. If Florida keeps scoring this efficiently while sharing the load, it will be a tough matchup for every team left on its SEC schedule.

## 2. Ole Miss Moved the Ball but Couldn't Keep Pace

Ole Miss had no trouble gaining yards. **Trinidad Chambliss finished with 298 yards**, over 100 more than Philo, who led Florida in the yardage column. On yardage alone, the Rebels' offense looked like it could keep up.

The scoreboard said otherwise. **Lucas Carneiro scored 8 points** and **Deuce Alexander added a touchdown**, but the gap between Chambliss's yardage and Ole Miss's 28 points is the story of this loss. Florida scored touchdowns on its good drives. Ole Miss couldn't match that often enough, and a 24-point final margin shows how quickly things got away from the Rebels.

The bigger worry is the defense. Giving up 52 points in a conference game leaves almost no room for error, however well the offense plays. Florida kept pressure on the Rebels' defense all afternoon, while Ole Miss's defense created little pressure of its own. By comparison, **Jayden Woods recorded a sack** for Florida's defense. With Chambliss producing close to 300 yards, the Rebels' offense can carry them. Whether they contend in the SEC will come down to their defense getting stops.

## 3. Florida Moves Into the SEC Lead

At 2-0, Florida shares first place in the SEC with Georgia and is one of only two teams with two conference wins. Alabama, Mississippi State and Texas are each 1-0 and unbeaten, but they have played one fewer league game. With so many teams bunched together, every conference win carries extra weight, and beating a ranked-caliber SEC opponent by 24 is a strong result for Florida's résumé.

Ole Miss is now 1-1, tied with Kentucky and Auburn in the middle of the standings. One loss doesn't end the Rebels' season, but it removes their margin for error. With five unbeaten teams ahead of them, Ole Miss probably has to win most of its remaining conference games to stay in the race for the SEC title game and a College Football Playoff spot.

The bottom of the standings shows how much this win helps Florida. Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Arkansas and LSU are all 0-1, so a large group of teams is already chasing. Florida has two wins in the bank. The Gators now need to keep this level of play going in the weeks ahead.
